Message from Pastor John Atkinson, Multi-Site Pastor:
As you all know we are starting two new campuses right now, one in Alice, and one in San Marcos. Starting a campus is much like starting a church, and one of the hardest parts of any start up, is getting enough people together in the beginning stages to cover all the ministry areas so we have time to get the church growing so that the churches own folks can step up and begin filling those roles. Any time we've planted a church close to Corpus, we have gathered together groups of servants from the Corpus Campus and sent them over to do what we like to call "missionary work."
We need some missionaries for the next 4-6 weeks at our new campus in Alice. We need some folks with big hearts who will help us get a new work going in Alice. We need 6-8 people per weekend for the next 4-6 weeks who already have background checks, and are willing to ride over to Alice and spend a Sunday serving in some ministry area, particularly Children's areas. This is a great opportunity to be a part of what God is doing through BAF in all these new areas.
However, it is very important that if you currently serve in a ministry area at any of the BAF Campuses, you need to make sure you have made arrangements with your current leaders so they know you will be gone, and so they have ample time to cover your position.

Living Water International
As noted below, there will be an LWI Health and Hygiene Training coming up in October. Bay Area Fellowship has had sufficient funds contributed to LWI to be able to sponsor a well next year and we will be putting together a team from BAF to go do the drilling and health & hygiene training for this trip, tentatively scheduled for Nicaragua. We are finalizing dates on it now. If you are interested in participating, it's a good idea to try to attend a health and hygiene training session to be better able to help on this trip or any others you may be interested in.

Health and Hygiene
Living Water International believes that drilling a well isn’t enough. Having a clean water source is essential to the health of a village; however, if clean water is carried home in a dirty container and children aren’t taught to wash their hands, disease will continue to be a concern. Living Water International is committed to providing–at minimum–an introduction to health and hygiene principles at every new well we drill. The combination of clean water and hygiene education reduces the number of deaths caused by diarrheal diseases by an average of 65%. Get involved by attending a Health and Hygiene Training.
Health & Hygiene Training
LWI offers a hands-on training seminar in health and hygiene education that utilizes the Participatory Learning method. Each participant is equipped to guide a local village through the principles and practices of hygiene and sanitation, demonstrating how these lead to improved health. Each course lasts two days, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.
- How to involve the community in identifying their needs and find solutions, causing them to take ownership of the process.
- How diseases are transmitted and how to prevent transmission.
- Simple water purification methods.
- Integration of spiritual truth into lessons about physical wellness
- Principle concepts about the importance of latrines & basic understanding of sanitation.
- Relationship development
Topics include:Importance of hand washing, Keeping water clean, Germs, Nutrition, Oral hygiene, Daily hygiene behavior changes, Keeping ourselves clean, Oral re-hydration skills, and more.
Registration:Registration in the Health and Hygiene Training Program requires the completion of a registration form and submission of payment. Seminars fill quickly, so register early.

Girls, JANES is growing like crazy! I am so blessed to be a part of this wonderful group of Godly women! Thank you for the privilege of being your Bevy / Hometeam Coordinator! Because we are growing, we are also changing. It is time for some pruning. We have outgrown Bevies. It is time to go to the next level. We hope that these specialized small interest groups would become a natural part or growth from your friendships and bonds created with other JANES. We no longer wish them to be a structured event but a natural one. Please continue "hangin" with your girls. I have explained it to my scrapbooking group and we are going to continue to get together! We really feel this is God's leading and that more fruit will produced in other parts of JANES! Thank you all so very much for your service to BAF and to GOD!

The Expo is Coming!
Hi JANES!
Hooray! We have our expo date! We will be exploding with pink in the atrium on Sept. 30th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. I am excited! Of course, we have lots to do to prepare. Every bevy/hometeam will have their own table. You are responsible for the following.
- decorating your table ~ We really want to get the ladies excited so go all out. See the attached photos from our 2006 expo for some ideas.
- posting your information ~ At your table you need something large (ex: science board) with the name of your bevy, when and where it meets, and a decription of your bevy. You will also need something with that same information that each lady that signs up for your bevy can take with her. (ex: flyer, business card, magnet, postcard). You'll need 150 to 200 of these.
- door prize ~ We will be giving door prizes throughout the expo so each bevy will provide a door prize (ex: candles, journals). You can ask your group to pitch in for the cost.
We will have a work night to prepare for the expo on Sept. 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 in the Red Dot Room. PLEASE plan to attend! If you have not completed a JANES covenant, a background check since we moved into the new building and met with one of the JANES leaders (DeeDee, Alisa, April & Janel), you will not be able to have a table at the expo. You can complete all of these at our work night meeting on the 24th.
Our JANES blog is linked to the BAF website now!! We want everyone who visits to be able to learn about each available bevy, so we have created a link on the B-Team page (BAF JANES Bevy List) that has info about each one. I will be responsible for this page. All you need to do is let me know your info (ie. date of your first/next meeting, days you meet, time, email address, etc..) This way you don't have to be responsible for a blog unless you want to be. Please share your personal blogs with your group.

- We would REALLY like all the bevies to have a blog/website. Alisa and I will create one for you if you don't want to do it. Just let us know what you want the title to be. We will gladly show you how to do it. It's super easy, fun and free. You don't have to post every day. Go to www.blogspot.com and check it out. Once you're on the net, let us know and we'll link you to the JANES Blog. We just want something that the ladies can go to and learn about your bevy. Please email me a title or let me know you are making one! We already have several!! Check them out!
- We have a cool JANES Calendar on this site. You have all of the events listed on one master calendar so that you can plan for your own happenings as well as check out dates for events you'd like to be a part of. To list a date for an event, send the event info to me and I will make sure it gets posted.
- If you were unable to attend the last Leadership Meeting, please check with me or Alisa for your JANES covenant and background check. You really need both of these completed before the expo.
- Check out the E-Team's blog for info about the Expo! There is work to be done.
- Don't forget to sign up for Prayer Night this Friday from 8pm to 8am. We always need prayer!

JANES CARE
Jesus CARES. I CARE. JANES CARE. Our BAF bevies CARE. We want the women in our small groups to know that we CARE about them and their lives. Being connected and CARING for each other is what God commands us to do. I passionately CARE about small groups. God changed my life through a small group. I learned how to have a real relationship with Christ by being CARED for and by being loved in my small group. I discovered that Jesus CARES for me even when I mess up!
